ALBAWABA - Several people, including the priest, were injured in an Israeli attack that targeted Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza on Thursday morning, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said.
A press release was posted by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, reading: "Jerusalem/Gaza, July 17, 2025 - The Holy Family Church in Gaza has been struck by a raid this morning. There are several injuries in the place, including the Parish Priest, Fr. Gabriel Romanelli."
The statement continued: "Currently, there are no fatalities confirmed. The Church sustained damage. The Patriarchate will provide additional details upon confirmation."

The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine called on the international community and human rights organizations to take urgent action to ensure the protection of places of worship in the Gaza Strip and put an end to the attacks targeting civilians and holy sites alike.
The committee added that it will continue to monitor developments in the situation, in coordination with local churches and relevant institutions, until the details of the attack are fully revealed.
