Jordan’s Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb said Saturday his country would not be used as a base, let alone a "passage point," for US-led troops to attack its neighboring country of Iraq.
"Jordan will not take part in any military action against Iraq and will not be a base or a passage point for any military operation," on Baghdad, Abu Ragheb said during a meeting with a group of senators, cited by the official Petra news agency.
"Jordan's security and stability is above all other considerations."
Abu Ragheb added that Amman had taken "into consideration all the eventualities and how to deal with them", and stressed the government "took the necessary measures to limit the negative repercussions that any military operation could have on our national economy."
"It is in the interest of Iraq and its neighbors that Iraq remain capable of protecting its territorial unity," the Prime Minister added. (Albawaba.com)
