The tournaments, which were held on campus during the first semester of the current academic year of 2005/2006, included football, basketball, table tennis, badminton, chess, and billiards games. The event was organized with the aim of providing extra curricular activities and increasing cooperation and interaction between students.

The award ceremony was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs Dr. Mohammed Al- Shishani who started the ceremonies with a speech.  During his speech Dr. Al- Shishani stated that PSUT always acknowledges the achievements of those students who strive to stand out. "These achievements are not in anyway less important than academic achievements. During these tournaments our students displayed a great level of comradery and sportsmanship." he said

Dr. Shishani emphasized that athletes should accept both wins and losses graciously and that the spirit of sportsmanship should reign supreme in athletic competitions.  "Our students have the qualities of true athletes, and I am proud of everything they have achieved "he said.

Dr. Al- Shishani used this occasion to state that PSUT will always work hard to highlight the athletic achievements of all its students without exception. The university's administration will place great importance on sports, and in keeping with the administration's aims, the academic year of 2006/2007 will witness the birth of an honor list dedicated to highlighting athletic achievements. "Athletic and academic excellence go hand in hand, because the principle of team work and cooperation displayed in sports help enhance the academic skills of students. He also stated that PSUT aims to participate in local tournaments involving other universities," he said

On his part, PSUT's General Sports Supervisor Mr. Yasser Muslih said, "PSUT is equipped with the facilities needed for students to both perfect their athletic skills, and participate in different sports activities every year"

At the end of the ceremony medals were awarded to winning students.
