Pro-government Iraqi forces have reportedly killed the Daesh shadow governor for the country’s beleaguered northern province of Salahuddin during a military operation against the militants in the province.
Fighters from the Popular Mobilization Units carried out an offensive in the oil-rich city of Baiji, located about 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, on Monday, killing the high-ranking Daesh figure, identified by the nom de guerre Mustafa Tikriti, in the process, Arabic-language al-Forat news agency reported.
Moreover, a total of 17 Daesh extremists were killed when Iraqi military aircraft carried out a precision strike against a terrorist hideout in the city of Khalidiya, located about 83 kilometers (50 miles) west of Baghdad. Ten Daesh also sustained injuries in the aerial attack.
