Nerio Alessandri developed his first fitness appliance in his garage in 1983. His company, Technogym, headquartered in Gambettola/Italy, near the Adriatic coast, has more than 1,400 employees and 12 branches worldwide. Over 30,000 Fitness and Rehab Centres and 20,000 private households in Italy alone are equipped with Technogym machines.

With a consolidated 2005 turnover of €273 million, Technogym continues to be the leading provider of premium fitness appliances in Europe, Asia and South America, and among the top 3 in the world. An innovative vision and a staunch commitment to promoting a better lifestyle through regular physical activity, a healthy diet and a positive mental approach is how Technogym defines Wellness.

Technogym ‘s production embraces three main product lines (training in the gym, at home and for rehabilitation) with additional services which have been studied to cater for and anticipate all market sectors from hotels, beauty farms and spas, rehabilitation centres and fitness clubs, corporate gyms, private homes, military barracks recreation centres, universities and sports teams’ gyms.  Professionals of every type choose Technogym equipment to help them excel. Ferrari Formula 1 drivers, such as Schumacher, and the McLaren team have been training with Technogym products for years. F.C.Juventus, Inter F.C., A.C. Milan, A.S. Ajax and Liverpool F.C players, as well as the America’s Cup Prada team and Alinghi, all keep fit with the company’s many pieces of state-of-the-art equipment.

Alessandri, Italy's youngest ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’ (Italian industry knighthood), and Technogym have been continuously recognized for excellence. In 2003 Ernst & Young awarded Alessandri the Italian Entrepreneur of the Year. For three consecutive years, the company has been merited as a Great Place to Work, winning 1st place in 2003 for the best working conditions in Italy. Technogym is the exclusive official supplier for the 2004 Greek Olympic and Paralympics Games, having supplied the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 games, the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic games and the 2006 Doha Asian Games.

Throughout the years Technogym has finessed not only technological know-how, but has become and authoritative voice on analysis of the fitness and wellness sector in managerial, technical and training aspects. This has created a company team able to supply a total product/service starting from its design and technological qualities to professional training and consultations offered by technicians and directors to sports centres.
