ALBAWABA - Hamas sources revealed that news circulating about Qatari request for the resistance movement to leave the country, or that members of the movement are not wanted, is baseless, three Hamas leaders confirmed to The New Arab.

Yesterday, an Israeli allegation emerged and topped the main pages that Qatar conveyed a message to Hamas leaders residing in Doha that they are not welcome.

One of the sources told The New Arab that it is not true that Doha has a desire to force Hamas leadership to leave Qatari territory. He also stressed the great role Qatar is playing in supporting Palestine and the Palestinian cause, in addition to sending aid to Gaza.

Nonetheless, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the circulating reports about Qatar's withdrawal from the mediation file in Gaza are "not accurate," confirming that it is willing to continue ceasefire talks with partners when the necessary seriousness to end the war is available.

"Qatar notified the parties 10 days ago during the last attempts to reach an agreement that it would suspend its mediation efforts between Hamas and Israel if an agreement was not reached in that round, and that it would resume those efforts with partners when the necessary seriousness is available to end the brutal war and the ongoing suffering of civilians due to the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Strip," ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said in a statement to the Qatar News Agency on Saturday.

And regarding reports that Qatar has called to close Hamas office in Doha, the spokesperson noted they are also "inaccurate".

He explained: "The main goal of the office's presence in Qatar is to be a channel of communication between the concerned parties. This channel has achieved a ceasefire in several previous stages, and contributed to maintaining the calm until the exchange of prisoners and hostages of women and children in November of last year."
