Qatar will export 4.92 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to South Korea from 2002 until 2023, said South Korean Vice-Minister of Commerce Hee-Beom Lee in Doha.
Lee’s announcement came at the end of a two-day official visit to Qatar, the last leg of a tour that has taken him to Saudi Arabia and UAE, reported the Gulf Times newspaper.
Lee said this was a moderate increase from the already agreed 4.8 million tons.
South Korea will also import 45 million barrels of crude oil a year from Qatar, he said.
About 28 percent of South Korea's energy needs are met by imports from Qatar.
Qatar's exports to Korea last year stood at $2.2bn, while Korean exports to Qatar totaled only $2mn, he said, cited by the paper – Albawaba.com
