Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) organized the first session of its training program in collaboration with NASD, titled "INTRODUCTION TO CAPITAL MARKETS AND COMPLIANCE". The training took place between the 15th and 19th April 2007, and was opened to the Authority's employees as well as a group of employees from the DSM and QFCRA.

This training was the first of series of training modules designed to improve the qualification of local skills in connection with the securities industry and the compliance functions, as part of the Authority's strategy for capital market development in Qatar.

The training program to be conducted over the next 12 months was specifically designed by the authority in collaboration with NASD, designed to different categories of market professionals, including the exchange staff, the market intermediaries as well as analysts and related businesses.

The objective of this training program is to improve the skill level of the local market professionals so to prepare the market players to comply with the new QFMA requirements and cope with changes that will occur in the near future following the implementation of the new capital market strategy.


The Qatar Financial Markets Authority – QFMA – is the regulatory supervising authority of the domestic capital markets. QFMA is the listing and licensing authority for the securities industry and relevant activities. It also has the responsibility of ensuring market integrity and transparency by reinforcing the market rules and regulations on market participants, and conducting the necessary surveillance and supervision activities.

Recently created, QFMA is implementing a new regulatory infrastructure for the capital markets and the securities industry, based on international requirements and recommendations.
