Qatar and Bahrain will sign in October a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to supply the latter with 500 to 750 million cubic feet per day of gas, Bahrain’s Energy and Industry Minister Abdullah Al Attiyah said on Friday.

"We are going to sign an MOU with Bahrain in October hopefully. We believe between 500 to 750m cubic feet a day," Attiyah said on the sidelines of an energy conference, reported the Manama-based Gulf Daily News.

Bahrain is seeking the gas to meet increasing domestic demand in the state.

Qatar hopes to sign a deal to supply Kuwait with between 850 to one billion cubic feet a day of gas by the end of the year, Attiyah said.

"I believe they are making a lot of progress," said Attiyah of negotiations with Bahrain and Kuwait.

Attiyah said Qatar and Dolphin Energy Ltd (DEL) are still on track to sign a production pact in early October under a landmark gas deal.

"Now we are preparing for that. Hopefully before October 15," he said.

Qatar and DEL were due by early October to ink a development and production sharing agreement for the $3.5b project to route two billion cubic feet (56.63m cubic meters) per day of Qatari gas to the UAE – Albawaba.com
