Qatar welcomed the return to power of Hugo Chavez on Sunday, after he was deposed as president for two days in a failed coup d'etat.
"Qatar, linked by brotherly relations with Venezuela, welcomes the re-establishment of law that President Chavez represents," an official spokesman told the QNA news agency.
"Qatar wants to see the security and stability of this friendly country" and fellow OPEC member, said the spokesman, whose country is currently head of the 57-strong Organization of the Islamic Conference.
Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani visited Venezuela last July for a visit focused on bilateral cooperation, AFP said. (Albawaba.com)
