Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani met in Cairo Tuesday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Discussions focused, amongst other matters, on Middle East developments.

A source close to the Egyptian presidency told reporters that the talks dealt with the developments in the Palestinian territories in wake of US president George W. Bush's statement concerning the situation in the region, according to KUNA.

In the course of his visit, the fifth since assuming power, the Amir of Qatar is expected to discuss the situation in Iraq, terrorism, regional and international matters of mutual interest, as well as strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
