The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani arrived in Bahrain Wednesday for talks to try to defuse new tensions over a border dispute, said BBC. Online.
The Emir was quoted by BBC as saying that he hoped to be able to eliminate all misunderstanding.
His visit follows Bahrain's announcement last week that it was suspending talks on the border issue.
Bahrain accused Qatar of failing to respond to its proposals, BBC said.
Qatar referred the dispute to the International Court of Justice in The Hague in 1991 and hearings in the case are due to start next week.
The dispute centers on two islands claimed by Qatar but controlled by Bahrain since the 1930s, added BBC – Albawaba.com
