A top-level Qatari delegation arrived in Bahrain on Friday for talks with leading officials to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral trade talks between the two countries, reported the Gukf News.
The delegation, led by chairman of Qatari Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shaikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, will hold talks with ministers of commerce, finance and national economy, in addition to top Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials and leading traders, said the paper.
They will discuss plans for major joint Bahrain-Qatar projects, it added.
Meanwhile, the joint Qatar-Bahraini higher committee will convene on Monday in Doha, reported the official KUNA news agency.
The committee, said the agency, will discuss establishing a bridge linking the two Gulf states, setting up joint project and establishing a joint council to promote investment, said the agency.
Bahrain and Qatar turned a new page in their relations after settling a decades-old territorial dispute through a ruling on March 16 by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that was welcomed by both states.
The ICJ endorsed Bahrain's sovereignty over the Hawar islands and Qitat Jarada island, but the Zubara strip stayed in the hands of the Qatari peninsula, which was also awarded the Fasht al-Dibel rocks and Jinan island.
The court ruled that Qatari shipping had rights of unlimited passage in waters separating the Hawar from other Bahraini islands – Albawaba.com
