Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad al-Thani left Doha on Sunday for Washington for talks with US officials, reported the official Qatari news agency (QNA) on Monday.
The agency did not give details on the nature and the aim of the visit.
The US opened its embassy in Doha in March 1973. The US describes bilateral relations as "cordial," with the two countries having signed defense pacts and held strong economic relations - Albawaba.com
