Qtel’s “Jewel in the Crown” Opens at Al Khor
One of the Latest and Largest Concept Stores Opens at the Heart of Qatar’s Seaside City
Qtel today officially unveiled its major new Concept Store at the heart of Al Khor, the latest and one the largest in its series of major openings in recent months.

The event was attended by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani, Chairman of Qtel and Musnad Bin Saad Almusnad, a senior representative of the local community in Al Khor. 

The Qtel Service Centre will provide high-level business services – including BlackBerry solutions and Enterprise hosting – and a wide range of consumer landline, mobile, broadband and entertainment services at a single convenient location.

Opening the facility, H.E. Sheikh Abdulla said: “Qtel is pleased and proud to open this major new facility at the heart of Al Khor. The people in this area have asked us to provide a new service centre, and this Concept Store will provide the highest quality of service and delivery.”

He added: “Qtel fully understands the importance of our responsibilities to the people of Qatar for ensuring they have convenient access to a full range of communication services and that it is easy for them to make payments and access information.

“In addition, we believe that these stores can play a beneficial role in the local community, offering opportunities for employment for Qatari nationals, providing a place for our customers to meet, and acting as an educational resource, so that young people can learn more about the technology of tomorrow.”

Qtel is confident that the new Concept Store – developed at an estimated cost of QR 20 million – will provide strategic support for the master-plan to enhance Al Khor through a series of major refurbishments and civic upgrades. Advanced business services will enable local companies to benefit from the latest developments in communication solutions, while the wide range of consumer services will provide residents with a full portfolio of options.

In line with Qtel’s strategy to position the Concept Stores as community resources as well as service centers, the Al Khor Concept Store will offer a range of recreational, children’s entertainment and hospitality facilities. 

The Qtel Service Centre will provide full support will also provide opportunities for job development and training for the local community. 

“By opening this Concept Store in Al Khor, we are living up to our commitment to provide the highest standards of service and delivery across Qatar,” added H.E. Sheikh Abdulla.

Al Khor Concept Store is One of Largest and Most Advanced in Qatar
Al Khor’s Qtel Concept Store covers a total area of more than 1,000 sq. metres, and offers two floors of advanced entertainment and innovation. Like all of the new Concept Stores, the branch features a bright range of vivid colours and attractive displays.

Dedicated areas cover specific services for Qatar residents, including special areas for high-speed internet access, mobile Broadband, residential landlines, Mozaic TV+ services and a wide range of mobile communications offerings.

It even hosts a gallery, displaying some of the latest mobile devices available in the region, which will be used to preview many of the newest models coming to the market. A special area displays a range of mobile computers and advanced BlackBerry solutions. 

As part of Qtel’s policy of providing the highest standards of customer service, there is a fully-staffed Customer Helpdesk, where residents can submit inquiries and applications, as well as purchase SIM cards and top-ups for HALA Pay As You Talk and Shahry Postpaid mobile. Electronic payment areas make it easy for people to pop in and out, while a range of special customer service areas provide facilities for people looking for face-to-face service.

In order to provide full value as a community resource, the Concept Store also hosts an internal branch of the “Fauchon Cafe” for the relaxation and convenience of visitors. The Cafe will serve a variety of hot and cold food around the clock for Qtel customers.

All these services are supported by a large and conveniently-located parking area, as well as a range of services for families and mothers with children visiting the store.

To educate and entertain visiting children, the Qtel Concept Stores have been equipped with a range of educational games and interactive screens. There are also play areas for children to have fun in, while their parents are busy in the store.

Solid Support for Businesses in Al Khor

The new Concept Store will house a specialist team of Business Solutions and technical support experts, which will work in partnership with local companies and government agencies.

Qtel has developed a range of specialist services for businesses, and the Al Khor team will provide particularly strong support for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Small Office / Home Office (SOHO) in Al Khor.

In particular, the team will be equipped with the right skills and knowledge to implement Qtel’s popular ‘Office in a Box’ solution, which brings together secure Broadband access, IP telephony, and Business Class E-mail and Web Hosting Services together in a practical, convenient and affordable communication package for small and medium businesses.
The Al Khor store is the latest in a series of openings, which has seen new Qtel outlets open in Landmark Mall, Al Rayan, Al Wakra, Hyatt Plaza, Salwa Road and Villagio Mall.
As part of the opening campaign, Qtel has organized a wide range of special activities, designed to encourage people across Qatar to use them as a community resource, including the Free Fun Family Festival held in Doha in April.
