Qtel Sees Strong Response for Services as Summer Promotions Heat Up
2,000.000 Customer Promotion, Competitive Offers on Hala and Shahry and Pre-Holiday Rush sees High Footfall in Stores Across the Country
With the temperature rising in Qatar and in the telecommunications market, Qtel revealed that this has been one of the busiest summer weeks in its history.
Tens of thousands of customers have visited Qtel shops in the first week of July, with stores reporting high levels of interest across Qtel's wide product range, particularly mobile services, such as Hala and Shahry - Pay Monthly, and entertainment services, such as Mozaic TV+.
Early July has traditionally seen a peak in sales of telecommunication services in Qatar before a summer slowdown, as people look to purchase mobiles to take on holiday, or expand their entertainment and Internet options to have more fun staying in-doors during the hot months.
However, this year has seen an usually high surge in interest, driven in part by Qtel's contest for its two millionth mobile customer, which sees the company offering prizes worth a total of QR500,000 for 100 customers who activate new mobile accounts in July.
The launch of Qtel's customer reward programme, Nojoom, has always had an exceptionally positive effect, with over 30,000 members joining in the first three weeks of availability. Nojoom provides points for every Riyal spent on Qtel services. Points can be exchanged for a wide range of gifts and experiences.
Dr. Nasser Marafih, CEO, Qtel said: "July has always been a positive month in Qatar, but this year it has been exceptional. We've had a high volume of customers come to us, and really benefit from the wide range of services and offers that Qtel is making available this summer. Qtel is always very thankful for the strong support we receive from customers across Qatar, and our success so far this summer - which is shaping up to be our most successful ever - reflects this."
In particular, Qtel has seen significant benefit from its store expansion programme, which saw Qtel launch new concept stores in a diverse range of locations including Al Khor, Landmark Mall, Al Rayan, Al Wakra, Hyatt Plaza, Salwa Road and Villagio Mall.
The stores have also provided a new range of payment and service options for customers, bringing a high level of support direct to people's neighbourhoods.
Qtel provides some of the widest range of payment options of any telecommunication provider in the Middle East, with over 20 ways to pay including eQtel, which allows customers to check their monthly bills and make payments online; Qtel Self Service Machines; Premium Dealers; Qtel Call Centres and the range of Qtel Stores.
"Providing a range of payment options is essential for any full-service telecommunication service provider, since it ensures that everybody can access and update their communication services as and when they need them," concluded Dr. Nasser.
