Motorsport enthusiasts in the Kingdom of Bahrain were treated to a glimpse of the upcoming GP2 Asia Series races when Team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com shared its views for the races to be held this weekend [26 & 27 February 2010].

QuestNet™ – a Hong-Kong-based direct selling brand with global operations (covering, among others, the Middle East, Africa and Asia) and a team sponsor – introduced Team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com at a media conference held in Bahrain today.

This is the third year since inception of the GP2 Asia Racing Series that the QuestNet™ sponsored team is competing.

Raad S. Abduljawad, Team Chairman, MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com commented, “It’s good to have the team back for the third event of the season at BIC as our home is only 20 minutes away. It will be important to get as many points as possible in order to keep a good place in the Championship. Both drivers are on the case and know the challenges running with different fuel simulations: full fuel or low fuel on a track that needs consistency and good pace.”

QuestNet™ spokesperson, Khaled Diab, General Manager: QuestNet Middle East General Trading L.L.C, said the team was excited and geared up to impress the crowds at the Bahrain International Circuit this Friday and Saturday.

“The team is currently placed fourth, and had it not been for the misfortune Luca Filippi experienced at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi earlier this month, the ranking would have been even more impressive.  But that’s the nature of racing, and events over which nobody has control naturally impact on teams,” Diab said.

Diab said the media conference was part of a road show by QuestNet™ throughout the Middle East to allow enthusiasts the thrill of motorsport up-close and personal in their home cities.  According to him, QuestNet™ and Team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com began the road show in December when they first travelled to Doha.  Further visits included Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Diab added that the road show will finally extend to Malaysia, Tajikistan, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania from April until July 2010.

“As an Internet-based company, this road show presents us with a unique opportunity to meet and engage with our clients and other stakeholders alike, while also giving motorsport fans the chance to experience the buzz of motorsport in their home cities,” he said.

Diab explained that QuestNet™’s decision to sponsor team Malaysia QI-Meritus.Mahara was based on the relation between motorsport and the direct selling industry.  “There is a direct relation between this sport and direct selling.  In both instances it requires performance, focus, passion, a winning attitude, and, last but not least, teamwork, to get ahead,” he said.

“We are taking those key elements and bringing them to the fans so they can witness what it is QuestNet™ does and the power, passion and precision we apply to our relationships.”

Also present at the press conference is Venu Johl, Senior Sponsorship Manager of The V who further explained on QuestNet™’s consumer-engagement activities surrounding its sponsorship.  “As part of the extended road show in Bahrain, the team’s red QuestNet™-sponsored racing car will be displayed at Seef Mall before the final round of 2010 GP2 Asia race at Bahrain GP.  Fans who want to photograph and see the GP2 racing car in person and participate in the exciting activities lined up, can visit the mall from 2nd to 6th March 2010.

“QuestNet’s fans on Facebook (QuestNet Official) may also stand the chance to win a pair of tickets to see team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com LIVE in action this weekend by entering the ‘GP2 Hot Talk Contest – Bahrain’.  Fans may also get updates about QuestNetTM and its motorsport endeavour on www.qi-meritus.com”, Johl added.

The 2010 GP2 Asia series lines up 12 teams from all over the world and Team Malaysia QI-MeritusMahara.com is the only team from Asia racing against other Europe-based teams.
