Global Village, a member of Tatweer and the region’s entertainment, shopping, and cultural attraction located in Dubailand, celebrated an exclusive gathering with over 50 journalists from various local, regional and international media on Saturday, 19 December, 2009. Guests were invited to tour the park and experience the numerous attractions organized as part of the 14th edition.
After convening at the park’s dedicated Media Centre, the members of the press met with Saeed Ali Bin Redha, Project Director of Global Village, at the Arabic majlis in the Bidayati Pavilion. Saeed welcomed the guests and briefed them on Global Village, emphasizing on its key message, “Where the World Comes Together”, reinforcing universal values by hosting pavilions and cultures of the world in one venue. He also extended the Global Village management’s gratitude and appreciation to the media for their continuous support of the venue over the years.
During the tour, the first stop was the Bidayati Pavilion, a dedicated pavilion for local women and entrepreneurs to showcase products from the Emirates. The group was then entertained with an East African Show on the World Culture Stage. This was followed by a tour of the Africa Pavilion where rare artifacts from various parts of Africa are on sale.
The group also witnessed the magical “Art of Fire” show that is performed by a well-known dance troupe from Russia. The essence of Arab culture was displayed as well through the performances of traditional songs and dances in the Egypt and Lebanon pavilions. Before a special dinner at the Syrian pavilion, the group was treated to the breathtaking “Human Cannonball Show”.
Etisalat is the official partner of the 14thedition of Global Village. Doors open at 4pm in the afternoon until midnight except on Thursdays and Fridays when it is extended until 1am in the morning. Mondays are allotted for families only. Tickets are priced at AED 10 each. For the disabled and kids below three years old, entrance is free.
