Middle East companies will continue to suffer from unwanted, malicious attacks, unless their employees take immediate precautions to protect themselves, say regionally-based IT security experts, Trend Micro, ahead of a regional speaking tour that will see them visit six Middle East cities beginning 5 March.
Most corporate IT users fall prey to messaging attacks, where they are targeted by spam, phishing, or directory harvesting.
“IT users in the Middle East must be more vigilant about the possibility of crippling attacks to their systems, particularly Web-based threats,” says Justin Doo, Trend Micro’s Regional Director, Middle East/North Africa.
“Messaging is still a mission critical application, but it is treated more and more as a commoditised product – the threat landscape has intensified but messaging has become monocultural and therefore more vulnerable.”
