Australia is refusing to accepts requests from the Bush administration to consider a fresh contribution to US-led forces in Iraq.
While government sources told The Australian newspaper that no formal request has been made in recent days, American officials continue to informally raise the issue of further peacekeeping contributions from Australia.
On its part, the Australian Government insists it will not reconsider its defence contribution to Iraq, with Prime Minister John Howard saying his country did its share before and during the Iraq war.
