CIA director George Tenet will be sent to Damascus soon with a strongly-worded message from US President George W. Bush that expresses discontent with President Assad's 'procrastination' on smothering Lebanon's Hizbullah and Palestinian factions operating from Damascus.

According to the Tel Aviv-based Haaretz daily, "the U.S. will demand that Syria abstain from hampering Iraq's stability and from standing in the way of the Roadmap to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict."

The newspaper added the Bush message would assert the U.S. "expects from President Assad to curtail Hamas and other terrorist groups in Damascus … not only to shut down their information offices and let them operate form other locations." (Albawaba.com)
