The Israeli economy has lost $1 billion due to the escalating situation in the Palestinian territories, reported Haaretz newspaper, quoting a report published Monday by the finance ministry.
"The negative effects of the renewed Intifada are being felt across the economy, though with varying degrees of impact," said the report.
Meanwhile, figures released by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed that the Israeli local economy was already a slump in September, prior to the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada, said the paper.
Most economic indicators for both September and October (after the outbreak of violence) point toward an economic slowdown. These indicators include industrial production, exports, tourism and employment, Haaretz added - Albawaba.com
