An Israeli security source was quoted Wednesday as saying that Israel has agreed to refrain from assassinating top Palestinian activists - except in the case of "ticking bombs," Haaretz reported.

"We have undertaken to limit our track-and-kill operations to terrorists who are definitely 'ticking bombs'. When it comes to more borderline cases such as Rantisi, who is in a command position, we will hold fire as much as possible," one Israeli security source told Reuters.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian civilian died Wednesday of wounds he sustained on June 10, 2003 when Israeli warplanes raided a Gaza densely-populated neighborhood, attempting the assassination of Rantisi.

Elsewhere, Israeli troops demolished early on Wednesday three Palestinian-owned houses in Rafah city, south of Gaza Strip. The demolished houses are located in the Zo’rob neighborhood, just south of Rafah city, owned by Ra’fat, Riad and Abdelmeni’m Zo’rob.

Two other houses were demolished in both West Bank cities of Jenin and Nablus.

In the West Bank city of Qalqilia, dozens of Israeli tanks and armored vehicles, backed by a number of helicopters, invaded early Wednesday the city and imposed a strict curfew on civilians, following a Palestinian shooting attack that killed an Israeli girl.

Two Palestinian groups claimed responsibility for the attack - the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC). (Albawaba.com)
