A female Israeli lawyer said Wednesday she was willing to defend a Palestinian man accused by the Palestinian Authority of collaborating with Israel and assassinating a member of the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Hamas movement, reported The Jerusalem Post newspaper, quoting the Israeli radio.

Nitsana Darshan-Leitner has notified the PA's Ministry of Justice that she is prepared to travel to the West Bank city of Nablus to take on Alan Bani Odeh's case, said the report.

Bani Odeh is accused of planting the bomb that killed his cousin, Hamas bomb-maker Ibrahim Bani Odeh, in late November.

Darshan-Leitner said that Palestinian Justice Minister, Freih Abu Medein, received her request to defend Odeh, and is now considering it.

Palestinian security sources told Albawaba.com on Saturday that Alan made a full and detailed confession to the Palestinian preventive security forces regarding the operation, which apparently involved the Israeli Intelligence.

Palestinian security man managed to capture 24-year-old Alan from Tammoun village in the West Bank city of Nablus in record time after he fled the territories to Israel following the 23rd of November assassination of Ibrahim.

The suspect confessed that he monitored the movements of his cousin Ibrahim Bani Odeh based on orders given to him by the Israeli intelligence (Shabak), the source added.

Alan had known that the Shabak intended to assassinate or kidnap his cousin, yet he denied that he had any knowledge that they were going to use his car in the conspiracy, the source added.

Alan used to report back to the Shabak everytime his cousin borrowed the car.

The suspect admitted that the Shabak had arranged his stay in a five star hotel in Jafa, and gave him monetary reward.

The suspect was told that his case was closed and that it was safe for him to go back to the territories, and that is why he felt it safe to go back to the village of Rummanah in Jenin where he was captured by the Palestinian security.

Several Palestinian groups have repeatedly demanded a public execution of Alan in the same spot where his cousin Ibrahim Bani Odeh was assassinated – Albawaba.com
