Turkey's CNNTurk TV channel reported on Thursday the Turkey-mediated talks between Syria and Israel will resume next week in Istanbul.
The two sides announced last month a resumption of peace talks under Turkey's auspices after an eight-year break. The last round of peace talks broke down in 2000 over the fate of the occupied Golan Heights.
Israel occupied the plateau between Damascus and the Sea of Galilee in 1967. It held on to it in another war in 1973. Late last month, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said Israel had shown that it might return the Golan: "Without this commitment we cannot conduct any negotiation," he told Reuters.
