ALBAWABA - A family of 11 people were killed when their vehicle collided with a communal bus in Cagayan province, northern Philippines.

The police said that the accident took place shortly after midnight when the family members were on their way home from a wake,  in Abulug municipality, when their pickup truck reached an intersection connected to a major highway and collided with the communal bus.

Police Major Antonio Palattao told AFP that just three people in the pick-up survived. There were no fatalities on the passenger bus, but the driver and conductor were critically injured, and 23 people had minor injuries, he stated.

"The driver of the Toyota Hilux is not well-oriented with the area and was not aware they were already approaching a highway," police Captain Jun-jun Torio told AFP.
