Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Quality Group discuss strategies in the field of quality and business excellence
Series of meetings part of efforts by Dubai Quality Group to help RTA strengthen its position as a DQG Investor Partner
Dubai Quality Group (DQG) recently visited Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) as part of ongoing initiatives to enhance collaboration in the area of quality and business excellence. The stepped up collaborative efforts between the two organizations has also been in line with RTA's recent accession as DQG strategic partner.
The RTA has joined DQG's list of prominent Investor Partners, which already includes 46 high-profile companies from both public and private sectors. Joining DQG has been seen as an essential move that effectively involves RTA as a supporter of various international conferences, training programs and awards that focus on improving quality practices and business performance, such as the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) of which the RTA is a silver sponsor. In line with RTA's role in the EEA, an introductory meeting was organized by DQG in June to familiarise the RTA staff with the criteria and categories of the award.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, said: “We are confident that we will gain many benefits as Investor Partners of Dubai Quality Group, especially considering that our organizational development plan involves strengthening the RTA's image as a quality-oriented institution in all its services. Our regular meetings and consultations with DQG will support us in implementing our current and future strategy as such partnerships will open several opportunities that will help us achieve our mission and effectively fulfill our responsibilities in terms of legislation and developing integrated transport solutions."
"This is a major breakthrough for Dubai Quality Group to establish a partnership with a leading government entity. As traffic and transport are critical components to the overall development of Dubai, DQG is committed to extend full support to RTA to improve the organization's level of excellence. The recent visit and meeting with top-level RTA officials represent the first of several collaborative efforts to let our partners achieve the greatest benefit in the field of performance and organizational excellence," said Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman, DQG.
The RTA, which was established in November 2005, is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, preparing legislation and strategic plans, planning and constructing the Dubai Metro, and developing other integrated road systems and marine network solutions that are safe and in line with international standards.
As Investor Partner, RTA benefits from several privileges, part of which is its full access to all of DQG’s various events and extensive business resources, including library, website, comprehensive business literature, subgroups and periodical publications. These services will in turn provide RTA with a platform for learning and adopting quality standards, and will help enable their dream of transforming into a global model for integrated transport systems and solutions.
"Furthermore, this new alliance is in line with DQG's strategic plan this year to further increase our reach in both the private and public sectors in the UAE and achieve our overall mission of enhancing the country's economy and to spread the word of quality." added Al Sawaleh.
Established in 1994 by the Department of Economic Development, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, DQG leads countrywide initiatives that aim to improve the UAE’s business environment through enhanced quality standards and business excellence.
