The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai recently organised a bus trip for students from the Kindergarten Development Centre in Dubai to introduce them to the services provided by the Authority. This initiative is in line with the Authority’s plans to spread awareness among students about public transport, as it is one of the best solutions for traffic and environmental problems.

The students were taken on a bus ride from their schools in Abu Hail area to Hor Al Anz bus station, passing by Gold Souk bus station and reaching Baniyas bus station.

During their visit, students interacted with several public transport inspectors who explained their job responsibilities and answered questions on all matters concerning public transport. A sales executive and a Transport Services Trainer from RTA accompanied the students during their visit. The Transport Services Trainer provided the students with detailed information on the way the public transport system works in Dubai, and also showed them maps for bus lines and the departure and arrival schedule.

Abdul Aziz Malek, Director of Public Transport at the Roads and Transport Authority said, “This trip is part of the Road Safety Awareness Program that was recently launched, and targets different road users, particularly students, to positively influence their behaviour as they are our country’s future. We place great emphasis on the importance of spreading awareness about public transportation in this community with the support and direction from government officials.”

The Kindergarten Development Centre in Dubai was opened in 1997 in cooperation with the Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organisation (AGFUND) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with the support of Prince Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saoud.  Operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Education in the UAE, the Center prepares and trains teaching and administrative staff to work in kindergartens. The centre has branches in the UAE, Oman and Qatar.
