Two people were killed in Benghazi when a rocket struck a residential building Thursday, Reuters reported.
Medics said the new casualties have increased the death toll from clashes in Libya to 53 in the past five weeks. Fighitng among rival factions have continued to destabilize the country as Libya's internationally recognized government fails to maintain control.
The international community has called for a unified government after Daesh's presence in the country created more concern for the nation's security. About 17 civilians were killed and 90 more injured from rocket and artillery strikes since April.
Army spokesman Mohammad al-Hejazi said extremists have been firing rockets when army forces approach their strongholds, but the Islamist camp denies the accusations.
Libya's capital, Tripoli, was seized from the internationally recognized government by a rival group, pushing the Western-backed government to the east.
