Royal Med take part in the 2nd Abu Dhabi Annual Surgical Meeting

Royal Jet’s Director of Royal Med, Dr. Anders Nyqvist, participated recently in the 2nd Abu Dhabi Annual Surgical Meeting held at Emirates Palace, where he presented his research paper titled ‘Safety Aspects on Air Transport of Patients.’ The conference, which was organised by the General Authority of Health Services (GAHS), hosted a number of eminent healthcare professionals, international surgical experts, as well as fresh graduates. Dr. Nyqvist was one of 57 who presented a scientific research papers covering a wide range of topics in the field of surgery science, developments and latest methods used in surgical operations.

“Our Doctors and Nurses are regularly updated on all medical issues and developments, therefore enabling Royal Med to continually deliver its promise of excellence,” said Ammar Balkar, VP Sales & Marketing. “Our participation in this conference also further allowed Royal Med to strengthen its ties with Abu Dhabi’s medical and local communities,” he added.

Dr. Nyqvist’s presentation outlined the various in-flight factors that need to be managed and monitored for safe air transport, as well as their effect on patients. Dr. Nyqvist presented current statistics of occurring in-flight incidents, and advised all attendees of the need to complete a pre-flight medical assessment that would adequately inform airline’s personnel of their passengers’ medical statuses. He concluded by detailing the safety aspects and indications for requesting air ambulance transport, and the required procedures that patients would have to follow.

“Being the main aero-medical service provider in the Middle East only boasts Royal Med’s qualifications and credentials in this sensitive field,” said Balkar. “With our medical team’s expertise and dedication, Royal Med is able to rise to this and every other challenge,” he concluded.

With as many as 2 billion passengers estimated to be carried annually by air worldwide, partaking in this conference further cemented Royal Med’s position in the ever growing sector. “We are committed to developing our staff and enhancing our aircraft with the latest medical equipment and technology, so as to always provide our clients with the utmost care and safety,” concluded Balkar.

Launched in 2003, Royal Med is the first Aero-Medical Evacuation and Repatriation operator in the region. The air ambulance service provider is specialized in medical air transfer and repatriation world wide. It has provided many patients with seamless air transport solutions; in its first year alone, Royal Med transported over 200 patients to various international destinations.
