Russia test-launched a Topol RC-12M intercontinental ballistic missile Wednesday out of its Plesetsk arms base in northwestern Russia, the second such launch in two weeks, military officials said.
The rocket, which was 15 years old, successfully hit its target on the Kura polygon in Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka peninsula.
It was launched at 1:00 pm, a press officer for the space branch of the armed forces told AFP.
Russia last test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile on September 18, when it launched a missile from a submarine in the Pacific at a target in the Barents Sea -- MOSCOW (AFP)
