ALBAWABA - According to a report provided by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Russia will retaliate against the US's intention to deploy weapons in Germany in the near future.

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, called US's decision to deploy these weapons a "serious mistake,".

"Washington is making a serious mistake. Such highly destabilizing steps directly threaten international security and strategic stability," Antonov stated.

"Americans took a dangerous militarist path. There, nobody is thinking about minimizing the dangerous consequences of breaking the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Washington has yet again displayed its insatiable need to show its own military superiority," Russia's envoy to Washington added.

In an attempt to show its commitment to NATO, the United States will begin deploying long-range fire capabilities in Germany in 2026, the United States and Germany said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

According to the two nations, the United States "episodic deployments" are a foundation for the longer-term stationing of such capabilities, which will include the SM-6, and Tomahawk cruise missiles, and developing hypersonic weapons with a greater range than those now in use in Europe.
