Russia's special envoy for the Middle East conflict, Andrei Vdovin, arrived in Egypt Tuesday from Amman on a one-day visit coinciding with talks in the Egyptian capital on a new EU peace plan, airport sources said.
Vdovin is expected to meet with officials at Egypt's foreign ministry on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, the sources said, according to AFP.
His trip is in the framework of efforts by the so-called diplomatic quartet on the Middle East, comprising officials from the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia.
The visit comes as foreign ministers arrive for a Wednesday and Thursday meeting of the 22-member Arab League's ministerial council, and coincides with a visit of Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moeller. (Albawaba.com)
