The press officer of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's son, Uday, denied Saturday rumors he had defected.
"I am one of Saddam's soldiers, and allegations about my defection are totally false and reflect the disillusionment of those who oppose Iraq's victorious march," Adib Shaaban said.
According to AFP, 47-year-old Shaaban blamed the Iraqi opposition for "making up information about my disappearance and defection to a Western embassy in Beirut, while I was still in Baghdad."
Shaaban, who also heads the Arab Photographers' Union and is chief editor of the Iraq daily Al-Rafidain, said he was in Syria for work-related issues and that he would return to the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on Monday. (Albawaba.com)
