Samsung welcomes the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Oman
Samsung Electronics announces its participating Torchbearers in Muscat
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Presenting Partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay, announced today its celebrity torchbearers that include a fine selection of renowned artists, athletes and media figures.
Under the slogan of "Light the Passion, Share the Dream", the Olympic flame will embark on a "Journey of Harmony" by visiting 21 countries, passing through the five continents, to reach Oman on April 14th, 2008. Omani singer Salah Zadjali, Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakherji, Qatari football player Saad Al Shemmari and Saudi media figure Batal Al Qaws were selected to be Samsung’s torchbearers and will participate in Oman’s Torch Relay.
Mr. Ranjan Mazmudar, Vice President of Samsung Gulf Electronics commented: “Muscat will witness a historical event this year. It is the only Middle Eastern capital selected among several international cities around the world to be part of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. It gives us great pleasure to be part of the Olympic Torch Relay; that strongly echoes Samsung’s corporate philosophy, which seeks to improve human society through the application of digital technology.”
He added “Samsung Gulf Electronics selected six torchbearers from across the Middle East to carry the torch in Muscat, Oman as they best encompass the qualities of humanity that the Olympic Games represent and stand for.”
