It is well documented that urban transport infrastructure in the Kingdom is in drastic need of investment to help curb chronic congestion, poor passenger safety and almost non-existent pedestrian mobility in popular urban areas.
A recent burst in population growth added with an ongoing upward trend in urbanization is putting unprecedented pressure on city transport infrastructure and an upcoming conference will address the opportunities and challenges for urban transport investment and development.
The Urban Transport Saudi Arabia 2010 conference takes places next week from 26-27 January at the Marriot Hotel, Riyadh and will bring together transport planners, engineers, consultants and investors to discuss Saudi Arabia’s new generation of urban transport projects.
A pre-conference workshop will also take place on Monday 25th January led by renowned consultancy Booz and Co. The workshop designed for both the private and public sector will look at the strategies transport planners can use to promote modal shift in the Saudi population from cars to public transport.
