Saudi Arabia accounts for 40 per cent of IT spend in the Middle East

PRO TECHnology hosts events to address growing data management and security issues in the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accounts for 40 per cent of IT spending in the Middle East region, according to recent industry reports. This high expenditure is attributed to an increasing demand by both large enterprises and SMBs for more robust and high performance IT solutions and products. In line with this, PRO TECHnology, a leading provider of communication, security and storage solutions, has partnered with global IT security company Symantec to conduct two high impact events in the Kingdom aimed at showcasing its state-of-the-art data management and security solutions.

The first of the two seminars discussed Symantec’s Enterprise Vault solution, a flexible e-mail archiving framework that makes storage easy and affordable, therefore improving company operations by enhancing their data management. Held in Jeddah, the event demonstrated the benefits of Enterprise Vault such as a reduction in the time and money spent on data storage and recovery, and meeting the needs of departments across an organization. In addition, the seminar provided businesses with the know-how to choose the right technology and to further boost their operations by jumpstarting their archiving projects.

“The KSA IT market is among the fastest growing regional markets at present, with industry indicators pointing towards more accelerated growth in the near future. An increasing number of organisations in the Kingdom are recognising the benefits of adopting latest technology, thereby boosting the demand for advanced IT solutions,” said Jamal Maraqa, Managing Director, PRO TECHnology. “We are convinced of the excellent potential of Symantec’s archiving framework in Saudi Arabia, given the success of the ‘Enterprise Vault’ seminar, which has been well received by companies who have identified the benefits of a well-maintained data storage project. By presenting a highly scalable option and giving out best practice guidance with regards to archiving and storage strategies through Symantec Enterprise Vault, we have opened up the opportunity for these companies to leverage the advantages of adopting a robust archiving framework.”

The second seminar in KSA was held in Al Khobar, where participants were introduced to the outstanding features of Symantec’s ‘Veritas NetBackup’ solution. The ‘Next Generation Data Protection Now’ event showcased the electronic data managing capabilities of this solution, which has been designed to be more efficient and cost effective. In addition, the company also conducted one-to-one meetings with the attendees to help them determine the best Symantec solution mix for their existing IT environment, and to aid them in devising a practical plan to implement it.

The seminars were organised by PRO TECHnology’s KSA and UAE offices, and were attended by Abdullah I. Al-Mutrif, Managing Partner; Mohammed I. Jaradah, Pre-Sales Engineer; Mahmoud S. Yakan, Sales Engineer; and Abdullah A. Al-Ali, Accounts Manager, from PRO TECHnology KSA; and Shaban T. Al-Ahmad, Regional Technical Director, PRO TECHnology L.L.C. The events emphasised the strong partnership between PRO TECHnology and Symantec. This relationship is further bolstered by Symantec awarding PRO TECHnology the prestigious ‘Symantec Platinum Partner’, the highest rank given to a channel partner. More recently, PRO TECHnology scooped the ‘'Total Solutions Partner Award' at the Symantec MENA Partners Summit 2008 and played an active role in supporting Symantec at the ‘Vision Riyadh 2007’.

“We have witnessed tremendous support from our current clientele in their participation in this seminar, as well as from companies who are facing considerable challenges in terms of data security issues. Our aim in bringing forth the ‘Next Generation Data Protection Now’ seminar is to underline the growing importance of robust solutions such as Veritas NetBackup system in ensuring security in critical business information. Given the outstanding success of this event, we are looking forward to becoming a part of these companies’ movement towards a complete implementation of Symantec’s data protection solutions,” concluded Maraqa.
