Saudi Arabia Identifies Hajj Accident Victims

The Saudi authorities have published the names of 35 Muslims who died in a stampede during the pilgrimage earlier this month, according to Saudi Press Agency (SPA).  

The victims were ten from Pakistan, three each from India and Sri Lanka, four from Egypt, Two Indonesians, five Turks and two Afghanis, in addition to an Algerian, a Bangladeshi, an Ethiopian, a Palestinian, a Sudanese and a French national.  

They were crushed or suffocated in the stampede during the first day of the ritual stoning of giant pillars representing the devil near the holy city of Mecca. Twenty-three of them were women – Albawaba.com
