Saudi cabinet decides to hold partial municipal elections

Saudi Arabia decided pn Monday to hold partial municipal elections within a year, in the first ever polls in the kingdom, it was announced.  

 

"The Saudi cabinet today ordered the restructure of the municipalities sector, introducing the election of half of each municipality council to secure more participation of citizens in local affairs through voting," the SPA reported. 

 

The decision also gave no more than one year grace period  

for the authorities concerned to finalize the regular procedures of activating this order.
