ALBAWABA- In a significant diplomatic move, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Riyadh, marking another key step in strengthening Saudi-Iranian relations.
The meeting came at a time of heightened regional tensions, with the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza at the forefront of discussions.
This visit follows recent defense talks between Saudi Arabia and the United States, where the U.S. offered enhanced defense protection to Saudi Arabia in exchange for the Kingdom's normalization of ties with Israel.
Iran, however, has warned Gulf states against allowing U.S. military bases on their soil to be used in any retaliatory strikes against Iran, as Israel and the U.S. prepare for a potential counter-response to an earlier Iranian missile attack.
Earlier in the day, Araghchi also held talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
In his statement upon arrival, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed optimism about improving regional peace, especially concerning Palestine and Lebanon, and reaffirmed the growing strength of Saudi-Iranian ties.
The discussions centered on regional security, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Lebanon, and the ongoing Israeli military operations.
Both parties emphasized the need to support the displaced populations in Lebanon and called for international efforts to halt the Israeli continued violations.
Araghchi described the dialogue as constructive, signaling that further consultations would follow to maintain the momentum in addressing these pressing issues.
