Any US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities could have catastrophic consequences, warned Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Washington Prince Turki al-Faisal. The Chicago Tribune quoted the prince as saying on Saturday the Middle East region can be freed from weapons of mass destruction (WMD) through a comprehensive plan that would include Iran and Israel.

"Even a single attack against Iran's nuclear facilities will have disastrous consequences for Saudi Arabia," Al-Faisal was quoted as saying.

Addressing a gathering at Chicago, the ambassador was further quoted as saying that if any of Iran's nuclear facilities were to be attacked, the effects of nuclear radiation could reach his country by wind. "Our region must be free from weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, and we feel that all kinds of WMDs should be boycotted whether they be in Israel or in Iran," the paper further quoted the ambassador as saying. He added: "Iran will not remain powerless in the even of a nuclear attack. It will strike, too."
