Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd has renewed his Kingdom’s commitment to the war on terrorism and stressed the "strength" of relations with Washington in a message to President George W. Bush published Saturday.
The monarch condemned the September 11 attacks as an "abominable criminal act" and expressed "determination to continue to support the international coalition fighting terrorism in all its varieties.
"One year after the events of September, we are more than ever determined to contribute to the international efforts in which the United States play a lead role to fight against terrorism and root it out," he said in the message marking the first anniversary of the suicide hijackings, according to AFP.
King Fahd said the hijackers - 15 of whom were Saudis - "sought to inflame feelings of hatred and bitterness" between peoples and deplored "the defamatory campaigns and the allegations stirred up to harm Saudi-American relations."
"I take this opportunity to underline that the historic relations and continued interests between the United States and Saudi Arabia will only strengthen and thereby consolidate the joint will to face up to those who want to harm the two countries." (Albawaba.com)
