Saudi King receives Syrian President in Riyadh

Saudi King Fahd bin Abdulaziz received in Riyadh on Sunday Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and his accompanying delegation.  

 

The King held talks with President Al-Assad in the presence of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the deputy premier and commander of the national guard, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the second deputy premier, defense and aviation minister and inspector general, prince Metib bin Abdulaziz, the minister of public works and housing, Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, the president of general intelligence, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the governor of Riyadh region, Prince Saud Al-Faisal, the foreign minister, Prince Saud bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the vice-president of general intelligence, Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the minister of state member of the cabinet and chief of the court of the Cabinet's presidency, as well as a number of top officials, according to SPA news agency. 

 

On behalf of the Syrian side, the talks were attended by deputy premier and foreign minister Farouq Al-Shara, and Syrian charge d'Affaires in the Kingdom Mahmoud Abdel-Karim.  

 

They discussed the developments of the Middle East situation, especially the Palestinian problem.  

 

Riyadh and Damascus, according to SPA, reiterated their support to the Palestinian people and their right to restore their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state.  

 

Moreover, both sides discussed the developments on the Arab, Islamic and international arenas in addition to bilateral relations between both countries. (Albawaba.com)
