Saudi Arabia's border guards arrested around 107,000 infiltrators in the four months ending in mid-July, the force's director, Lieutenant-General Talal Angawi, said Monday.
Moreover, border guards captured 939 smugglers and confiscated 382 kilograms of hashish, 48,259 pills, 935,000 kilograms of qat, a narcotic shrub, and just over 4,000 bottles of liquor, SPA quoted Angawi as saying.
Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz Monday ordered 666,666 dollars to be paid to guard members who succeeded in apprehending drug smugglers. In the year ending in mid-March, the guards arrested 377,000 infiltrators and 3,400 smugglers, and confiscated 2,690 kilograms of hashish, 71,000 pills and about 23,000 bottles of liquor, Angawi said. Most of the infiltrators are believed to have entered the country's southwestern provinces from Yemen. (Albawaba.com)
