Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Mauritania on Sunday as part of a foreign tour.

Bin Salman was welcomed by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz upon arrival in the capital Nouakchott, according to the Saudi-funded Al Arabiya television.

On Saturday, the National Forum for Democracy, the country's largest opposition bloc, voiced rejection of the crown prince’s visit to Mauritania.

On November 22, bin Salman began a foreign tour during which he visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Egypt and Tunisia as well as attending the G20 summit in Argentina.

He is expected to visit Algeria on Sunday as part of his tour.

Bin Salman’s foreign tour is his first since Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist and columnist for The Washington Post, was killed early last month inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

After saying he had left the consulate alive, Saudi Arabia admitted weeks later that he was killed there, blaming his death on a group of rogue Saudi operatives.

A CIA assessment released earlier this month appeared to implicate bin Salman in Khashoggi’s murder.
