Saudi Arabia on Sunday enacted a decision requiring the kingom's 6,000 jewelry shops to employ only nationals as salesmen and administrators, and in jobs involving handling finances, reported the Gulf Daily News.

The measure is expected to create 20,000 new jobs for Saudi nationals over the coming months.

The decision was taken last year by Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdelaziz, who also heads the Manpower Council, a government body founded to create jobs for Saudi nationals.

According to unofficial statistics, Saudis represent just seven percent of the workforce in the jewelry sector, which employs more than 50,000 people – Albawaba.com
