ALBAWABA- American authorities have launched a search operation for a missing Marine Corps helicopter carrying five troops from Nevada to California, as reported by AP.
The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, belonging to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, departed from Creech Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada, bound for Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
The helicopter was reported overdue early Wednesday, prompting search and rescue efforts coordinated by the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Miramar Air Station.
Collaborating with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and the Civil Air Patrol, authorities are focusing their search efforts in the area of Pine Valley, a mountainous region approximately 35 miles east of downtown San Diego, where the craft was last seen.
