The Second Family and Child Festival Kicks Off in Badr Al Jadidah

Badr Al Jadidah district / the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has recently announced the launch of the second edition of the cultural “Family and Child Festival,” the activities of which are to extend until August 13.

During a speech he gave at the Festival’s inaugural ceremony, Head of the Local Committee for Badr Al Jadidah, Abdul Jaleel Al Zioud Al ‘Abbadi, said, “Holding the Family and Child Festival personifies the Greater Amman Municipality’s social responsibility towards providing all strata of the local community with knowledge.” 

Al ‘Abbadi praised GAM’s efforts and the Mayor of Amman’s support of all developmental projects and initiatives in the Capital’s various districts, which reflects positively on those districts and the local community alike.

Along these lines, Al ‘Abbadi urged the district’s residents, during the celebration, to participate in the Festival that is an annual event organized by the district itself, in cooperation with pertinent parties; the district aimed at increasing the Festival’s cultural, educational, and recreational programs and courses, which, in turn, benefits members of the local community from all walks of life.

From his end, Manager of Badr Al Jadidah, Engineer ‘Emad Al Hiyari, stated that the Family and Child Festival falls in line and maintains GAM’s message, with regards to providing exceptional municipal services, and developing them to combine both modernity and originality. He also affirmed GAM’s dedication to and role in adopting all initiatives that serve the community and deal with the human dimension.

Director of Al Risaleh Association for Social Development, Dr. ‘Amer Al Sha’ar, gave a presentation about the Association’s role in serving the local community through implementing various social initiatives to the benefit of all strata of the local community. He commended the efforts of GAM and Badr Al Jadidah in holding such a festival that was teeming with cultural, educational, and recreational programs for the district’s residents.

On the agenda for the first day of the Festival was a lecture organized by Al Risaleh Association for Social Development and presented by Dr. Mousa Al Sweilmeen from the University of Islamic Sciences, entitled, “Islam and Its Stance on Habits and Traditions.”

During the hour-long lecture, Al Sweilmeen reviewed the prevalent social habits and traditions in the local community, referring to the Islamic viewpoint regarding these.

The Festival which will extend until August 13 includes a number of cultural, educational, and awareness lectures, to be given in collaboration with public and private sector organizations.

Within this context, several training courses will be held within the framework of the Festival on internet techniques for all age groups. Also to be arranged are field trips to various educational and touristic locations, and entertainment programs for children, which include face-painting and plays, in addition to a magician and a story-teller.
