More than 280 delegates from 24 Arab and foreign countries will participate Sunday in Muscat in the 6th Arabian Travel Market (ATM) conference, aims at promoting the Gulf as a single tourist destination, reported the Gulf News.
The last ATM conference was held in Sharjah in which 154 delegates took part.
This is the first time that the prospects of the six Gulf states, marked as a single destination, would be discussed against the backdrop of the Caribbean, Scandinavian and Asia Pacific experiences, a member of the organizing committee said.
"The importance of the Gulf's tourism potential can't be over-emphasized in the face of ever growing infrastructure in this affluent Arab region, offering a fascinating blend of the old with the new," he added.
Meanwhile, the paper said that GCC representatives will discuss the set up of a GCC encyclopedia.
The GCC encyclopedia will be issued in English and Arabic, said the agency, adding that it will be also published on the web.
The tourism department of the GCC has asked all member states to provide it with all tourist information they wish to include in the encyclopedia - Albawaba.com
