ALBAWABA - Axios obtained an exclusive story that senior Democratic Party officials did a secret internal assessment and found that Vice President Kamala Harris lost a lot of support from voters in the 2024 presidential election because of how the Biden administration handled the war in Gaza.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) looked at strategy mistakes made during the 2024 campaign in the report they released after their party lost. But party leaders decided not to make the results public because they were worried about causing splits within the party and upsetting political feelings.

Arguments within the country about Israel policy

The report is said to show that the Democratic Party has serious disagreements about how to back Israel. Progressive lawmakers were very critical of the administration's position, saying that their unwavering support for Israel turned off important groups, especially young voters and progressive activists.

Harris tried to strike a delicate line during her campaign by saying she supported Israel's security while also calling for an end to the fighting. That being said, some people said she wasn't far enough away from President Joe Biden's ideas.

Effects on Support for Voting

Axios says that as part of the review process, DNC leaders met privately with pro-Palestinian groups to talk about the issues. A lot of activists said that the administration's policy on Gaza made young and progressive voters less excited, which in turn affected voting and support.

According to reports, data shared during those talks showed that the problem had a "net negative" effect on how well Democrats did in the 2024 election. Sources who were familiar with the evaluation confirmed that party leaders knew the method taken by the administration would hurt their reputation politically.

Dispute Over Not Giving the Report

Supporters say the DNC is keeping people from seeing the report because it has negative things to say about Israel. The committee has disputed that claim, saying that the reason they didn't release the analysis was to keep people from getting distracted before the next election.

As the party gets ready for the upcoming midterm elections, some activists want the party to be more open within to all members to ease the worries of important voting groups.

In her new book, Harris wrote that President Biden's falling popularity, which she partly blamed on his strong backing for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had an effect on her campaign. She allegedly told the administration in private to be more understanding of Palestinian civilians, but she didn't go against Biden's policy in public, which may have had an effect on the result of the election.
